The Mahatma Gandhi Future Leaders Program (MGFLP) is a mentoring and leadership program for a new generation of political leaders from the Indian Community in the UK. The program aims to grow and nurture new talent in the Labour Party, to take on roles across the local, regional, and national government. The program will include training modules and shadowing or mentoring scheme and the ability to create a network with other candidates. 

The training program will include a multi-pronged approach to cover political education (including becoming a candidate), good governance, communication and marketing, values and ethics in public life and navigating through the Labour party system. We are looking for candidates who can show what they have done and what they can do, within their communities, the party, and also contribute to enhance the relationship between the UK and India.

The program was conceptualised, designed and is headed by Uday Nagaraju, Program Director, MGFLP and Head of Policy, LFIN and launched by Angela Rayner, Deputy Leader and Chair of the Labour Party.

Applications to the MGFLP are now open, with the six month program beginning in spring 2021 and finishing at Labour Party conference.

Applications for the flagship programme are now open and will close on 15th March 2021
